Title Inspiration
My friends and I saw the movie "Splice" last night which is what inspired the title to this track. The movie was pretty cool. Kind of dumb in some parts but a good sci fi thriller to watch and make fun of. This beat was made before we watched the movie but I had no real title for it and i thought this title fit with this beats kind of twisted and experimental feel. The delicate piano in the sample sings almost innocently as what im guessing is a clarinet reflects kind of a hidden wild menace lingering in the background! The aggressive drums also add to the strength of the

A Deadly Combination
It's amazing what some raw jazz loops, vinyl crackle and a dirty breakbeat can do! With this beat i was mostly just figuring out some new stuff in protools and used some unused chops from another beat i made previously and it came out pretty interesting i think. Definately on a more abstract or experimental vibe. Hope you like it!

Hard to Admit

It's not my fault my wife tricked me!!!! LOL A while back my wife got into the show Gilmore Girls with her mom and sisters and watched it all the time! I resisted for a loooooooong time. I used to go on about how i hated that show and even nicknamed it "Dialogue Girls" because of how incessantly  the characters talk in this series. Well the cleverness of the dialogue eventually got to me and ive become a fan myself. Ugh...  i know im not alone here guys....   am I? lol

Finding the Sample
Anyways eventually in this show the main character buys a dog and calls him Paul Anka after the 60's pop singer. There are many long and clever moments of dialogue involving the dogs name in the show many of which i have recently watched with my wife on our latest round Gilmore Girls viewings. Yes we have all the seasons. So this is  a roundabout way of telling you that when i happened to come across a Paul Anka record in my collection while digging for samples i had to pull it out and see if i could find some samples.

What I found was a sample i may have overlooked if it wasnt for some of the words to the song. In the hook Paul sings about his commitment to his current love interest and says something to the effect of 'If the sun should tumble from the sky I'll still love you'. I know real sappy but i could'nt pass by the apocolyptic reference.

Classic Vibe
This beat kind of has a throwback Pete Rock and CL Smooth vibe to it reminding me of one of my favorites from them where the hook goes "without Pete Rock and CL Smooth, You know the sun won't come out" A real happy sound with a bit of basement boom bap to keep the head nodding. With some Raw battle lyrics this short beat has some real potential to be a dope track on a classic album! Hope you enjoy!
